Cristo Rei Closed

The statue of Cristo Rei in Garajau has been closed to the public for safety reasons after a piece if concrete weighing about 5 kilos fell from the statute.

    I can just see the newspaper headlines now.... Tourist killed by hand of god whilst on holiday in Madeira.

    Even in traditional catholic Madeira christianity is crumbling. Just as well :/
