  1. Hello Tobi,
Just subscribed; am enjoying the blog, particularly the pictures (!) and the recipes. We visited Madeira from a cruise ship and later for 10 days last year. Wonderful people, beautiful place, great great wine. We ate and shopped and cooked Madeiran the whole time.

    Thanks for the blog!

  2. I have no idea if you will receive this or not. We were in Madeira last Oct on holiday. We were very much taken by the older part of the capital. Our heart goes out to EVERYONE on the island at this moment. We both can imagine the terrible scenes you are all coming up against with the fires raging throughout your city. Our prayers and thoughts are with you all at this horrible time. Craig and Linda, Dunfermline, Scotland.

  6. Hi Tobi, my husband and I are in Funchal at the moment and would like to express our thanks to you for providing us with up to date information regarding the fires. Although we could see the fire from our hotel, if it wasn't for your blogs we wouldn't really have known exactly what was going on out there, so thank you so much for keeping us informed. Like you say things seem to be getting back to normal and we are looking forward to our last few days here. Michelle and Oliver xx

Oh my gosh, we have been up on the cable cars today and seen the devastation of the fires, it is so terrible. We were heartbroken before for you all, but even more so actually seeing it up close. Absolutely dreadful, but you got through it once and I'm sure Madeira will recover again xx

  7. As a British man who fell in love with Madeira 3 years ago - it was great to discover your blog when I was searching for information on the dreadful fires. So glad that the situation has eased for its resourceful people. Looking forward to 3 weeks in Funchal during January 2017.
