View Points of Madeira

One of my blog readers "Wauzih" from Germany has very kindly shared his list of view points in Madeira, which he has put together on a map, with Google Maps.

A very detailed map, and very handy for anyone visiting the island, so many beautiful view points, perfect for photos.

More and more visitors are coming to the island, this start to the year has been very busy, and I have noticed many more people around from the same time in the previous 2 years.

If anyone has any more view points to add to this list, please let me know and I will pass them on to Wauzih.

Remember the Portuguese word for View Point is Miradouro.

If anyone decides to do a tour of all Madeira's view points then it will be great to hear from you and maybe see some photos.

Refurbished View Point, New Mountain Road

Last week a new 17km stretch of road was opened between Eira do Serrado and Pico do Arieiro. This makes for a very scenic drive and also gives firefighters better access to the mountain areas. The road will be closed at night after sunset to avoid danger to drivers at the weather can change very quickly in this area.

Tomorrow 31st October 2012 the new refurbished view point at Cabo Girão will be opened. Cabo Girão is one of the highest sea cliffs in the world standing at 580m . The new view point will have a glass platform to walk out on, a new snack bar and toilets, and plenty of parking. The area has also been landscaped with new plants and trees. At the moment I am not sure how much they will be charging for entrance to the view point, but as soon as I know I will update this post with the prices.

View Points (Miradouro)

Just one of the hundreds of View Points in Madeira.
Great place to relax with a picnic and soak up the views.
This photo was taken in the Parque Ecológico do Funchal.
