Message from Pope Francis transmitted on August 15, 2016
 on "Nossa Senhora do Monte" celebration, Saint Patron of Funchal.

The Pope Francis showed to be "dismayed" with the wildfires in Madeira Island, causing loss of lives and extensive material damage.
"Dismayed by the sad news of the terrible wildfires in Madeira, the Holy Father sends to the victims families condolences and participation in the pain of all the bereaved, as well as his solidarity and spiritual closeness with those who have lost their homes."
Pope Francis appeal "comfort and recovery to the injured" with vows of "courage and consolation of Christian hope" for all those affected by the "tragedy" with a special memory and his blessing to "all those working to combat fires".
