TAP 425 Memorial Vandalized

Translated from Diario

The sculptural piece shaped tree that honors the 131 people who lost their lives in a plane crash at the airport of Madeira, November 19, 1977, is being vandalized several days ago.
Located on the promenade of Santa Cruz, near the airport bedside, the work built with a unique structure cookpit aircraft, with a reinforced glass very hard to break, has been constantly vandalized, namely the breaking of the side glass.
Contacted by DAILY, the municipality of Santa Cruz admits he has already complained to the PSP and although still there is no suspect, believe that these acts are carried out at night time, "since for from these virtually unbreakable glasses several attempts are necessary ".
The Municipality of Santa Cruz said that in addition to being a disrespect for the victims who lost their lives in the plane crash at the airport of Madeira, is also a disregard for family members with this sculpture decided to honor their loved ones.
The city is considering putting surveillance cameras to identify the perpetrator but is concerned that they have the same outcome and are also vandalized

  1. Shame that Madeira seems to be getting more and more of this kind of behaviour nowadays.
