I knew that pilots had to receive special training to land at the airport but didn't realise only captains allowed to land the plane. I was showing someone at work some photos of the runway last week and they couldn't believe that planes land there! Must admit I do enjoy listening to those that have never been to Madeira before looking out of the plane windows and saying in a horrified voice, "that's not the runway is it - OMG". Always makes me smile 😊
