Preventing Zika in Madeira.

Interesting news article on the ITV news website today, well worth a read.

I just wonder how much is being done to stop the spread of Mosquitoes, You only have to look at the unused water park in Santa Cruz, the water is still there nothing has been emptied, surely a massive breeding ground???????

  1. I saw this on the ITV news yesterday - was a very interesting article. Agree about all the large areas of standing water around - the news item showed the various fountain areas on the front promenade and one looked pretty nasty with stagnent water sitting in it. Ideal for the mozzies to breed! Interesting also that the 2 women were using salt to kill the mosquitos they found in the drains!

  2. Hi Emily.

Yes I worry about all the stagnent water. I will be sticking up on Avon skin so soft as a repellent, there is an Avon shop in Funchal so need to check the prices there. They sprayed everywhere with salt water when we had the dengue. At least we have a great supply of salt water.
