Hope this idea takes off in Madeira, although I think it will be some time before the vast number of people stop kicking their dogs out on the street when they go on holiday, move house or just get fed up with the current dog and move on to another puppy. It's great to see that there are people prepared to take a stance against how animals are treated on the island and to try and promote dog training, socialisation and fun activities that will make those that keep their poor dogs chained up all day and night in the backyard and fed on household scraps realise that dogs are part of the family and should be treated as such. Owning a dog is a very rewarding experience, they offer so much and ask so little and hopefully this Dogtel can put this message across to those that choose to treat their dogs in such an inhumane manner.
ReplyDeleteA problem I can see never getting better. People just don't walk their dogs. They are stuck in small gardens with no exercise, or chained up like you say.
