Madeira in Oils

Artist Greg Pitches was born in Walsgrave on Sowe in Warwickshire UK in 1943. Greg completed an apprenticeship in decorating; this included an Art course at Coventry College of Art. Greg went on to become a self-employed decorator, restorer and gilder. Oil painting has always been an interest, but with only a few pieces of work undertaken in early years. It was not until the mid-2000’s that Greg had his first art studio, and the time to follow his passion more seriously. Greg found that this passion lay in landscapes, and after visiting Madeira for the first time in 2008, he and his wife fell in love with the Island, and subsequently purchased a house on the Island.  On every visit to Madeira, Greg takes the opportunity to tour the Island, and gather inspiration for his Madeira Landscape collection. The love of Madeira past and present is captured in his paintings. Prints of some of Greg’s paintings are on sale at Loja Tradicoes (The Cork Shop) by the side of The Cathedral in Funchal. Originals and further prints are also for sale, please contact Greg at moley14@hotmail.co.uk
