Snow on the Peaks

Some nice photos of yesterdays snow on the peaks from RTP Madeira's Facebook Page.
Enjoy the photos below.

December and January have been very dry, with 10 times less rainfall in Funchal.

A translation of the article below.

"In December 2014 and January 2015, in Funchal, it rained about ten times less than would be normal," he told Lusa Vitor Prior, director of the Meteorological Observatory of Funchal, stressing that the rain has been scarce in particular on the south coast Madeira and in mountainous regions.
"In Funchal, were recorded only 16.1 mm in December 2014 and 6.3 mm in January 2015, when normal values are 109.4 mm and 90.6 mm respectively," he said.
Also in Areeiro Peak (1818 meters) the amount of rainfall was recorded about 25% of the normal value for those two months while Santana (northern island) and the Port St. was about 50% of normal .
"The reduced rainfall readings in these two months are associated with the continued presence of the Azores anticyclone, which has blocked the approach and passage of frontal surfaces in Madeira, which are associated with the normal values of the amount and number of days with precipitation, "explained Victor Prior.
