A fire broke out early evening from the grounds of the Casino Park Hotel, in the gardens close to Santa Catarina Park, and the Presidents place Quinta Vigia and above the Vespa night club.
24 Police, firefighters and ambulance crew attended the area.
The prompt intervention of the emergency crews, put the fire out quickly so not to much of an area was damaged, but the heat shattered the windows to the Casino's nightclub, and 2 people were taken to hospital for smoke inhalation.
The most probable cause of the fire is from a cigarette being thrown from someone at the hotel.
