A magnitude 3.9 earthquake on the Richeter scale occurred in the early hours of the morning on Wednesday in the sea just off the siuth coast of Madeira, and was felt by some people living on the island.
According to the Portuguese Institute of Sea and Atmosphere, the event was registered at the 1:17 a.m., 10 feet deep in the Atlantic Ocean, at a distance of approximately 100 kilometers from Funchal.
Despite of mild to moderate intensity, the earthquake was felt by some islanders who admit having seen a slight vibration for a few seconds.
