Madeira, Best European Island Destination

Madeira has been voted the best Island destination for Europe at the World Travel Awards ceremony.
The event which took place in Antalya, Turkey, dubbed the Oscars of tourism saw Madeira voted the best Island destination, beating off competition from the Canaries, Balearic Islands, Malta, Cyprus and Sardinia.

    Pleased to hear Madeira gained such recent tourism accolades.
    I remain surprised that it is the only island out of those considered without a sea link to a mainland.
    If the only runway at Funchal airport was out of use transport to and from would be a nightmare

      Hi Martin,

      I have heard rumours that this ferry link will start again, but no proper news of this yet, but will be the first to let you know when I hear something.
