Funchal City Day

A public holiday in Funchal brought people to the beaches.
A hot sunny day with max temperature of 32 degrees saw beaches and lidos packed to bursting point, some places like the lido at Ponta Gorda saw record entries and hardly any space to lay a towel.
Strong tides saw yellow and red flags raised in many areas making it impossible to enter the sea. Praia Formosa to the west of Funchal had the red flag flying, with no one in the sea, and Doco do Cavacas pools were closed because of the strong Ocean currents.
